The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes

There Is Nothing More Expensive Than Free Time.

How Busy Are You?

For most people, the answer is 'Yes.' I've known people that are never-not busy, and I readily consider myself to be *always* busy. The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes is an old proverb that demonstrates a problem of Experts, and it has almost as many variations as there are professions.

  • A plumber's house always has a dripping tap.
  • A blacksmith's home only has wooden knives.
  • The baker's children don't eat cake.
  • The goldsmith's children have no jewels.

And, of course, the programmer has no website.

A lot of Experts -- that's to say working folk with a specialized skillset -- could probably use that skillset to enrich their own lives. Instead, they end up using their skills to work for other people. They may not have the time or desire to spend effort solving the same problems for themselves that they solve every day for other, paying folk. Also, it takes a rare sort to spend their free time doing more of their job...

I was inspired by several people posting Minimum Viable Blogs to create one myself, and mostly to solve this problem of not having something for myself. I've always wanted a personal space to make my own website with all the bells and whistles I've discovered over the course of my actual job as a Full-Stack Developer, but as the job title implies, my days are somewhat full. So, instead, I've decided I'm going to dump something out on the web as quickly as I reasonably can, build it up over time, and hope that even if I don't make something that's exactly what I envision, it ends up being close enough to count.
